Softball Recap: Norfolk Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lincoln High

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norfolk). They blew past the Lincoln High Links 16-1 on Thursday. Considering the Panthers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carlie Brandt looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eastyn Schroeder was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 13 games. Jenna Allen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Norfolk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Norfolk's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-9. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Lincoln High, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Norfolk will challenge Elkhorn at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lincoln High, they will square off against Benson at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
