Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mangum

Mangum never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Cordell Blue Devils. Considering the Tigers have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Paelyn Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hanna Stehr was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Abree Hopper, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Mangum hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory (which was Mangum's third in a row) raised their record to 11-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Cordell, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Mangum will look to defend their home field on Monday against Merritt at 5:30 p.m. As for Cordell, they will venture away from home to take on Thomas-Fay-Custer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Terriers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.11 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
