High school softball rankings: Six new teams shuffle into MaxPreps Top 25

No. 1 Roncalli gets underway with pair of wins as teams from Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arizona enter rankings.

After a 10 month wait, the defending Indiana 4A state champion and preseason No. 1 team in the MaxPreps national softball rankings began its season.

The Roncalli (Indianapolis) offense showed no sign of rust as the team combined to hit 10 home runs, six doubles and scored 26 runs in its first two games. Mount St. Joseph commit Courtney Keller hit three bombs to start her senior season.

While Indiana teams are just getting going, states like Texas are approaching 30 games played and the regular season winding down. The Lone Star State has four of the Top 10 teams in this week's poll.

Clovis North (Fresno, Calif.) continues to prove why it's considered one of the top teams in California and in the country. The Broncos won the Clovis Easter Classic Tournament, outscoring their opponents 32-0.

Teams that do not enter results and statistical information to MaxPreps make forming the rankings and highlighting players much more difficult.
