Softball Recap: Hawkinsville Takes a Loss

Hawkinsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Schley County Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 last Monday.

Hawkinsville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Janette Collins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Hawkinsville's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Schley County, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hawkinsville will square off against Telfair County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Schley County, they will head out on the road to take on Taylor County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
