Softball Recap: Cherry Creek Triumphs

Cherry Creek proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles, sneaking past 4-3. The four-run effort marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Paloma Heshmati spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elena Sepesi, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Cherry Creek's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Mountain Vista, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Cherry Creek will square off against Columbine at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain Vista, they will challenge Arvada West at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
