Baseball Game Preview: Treutlen Vikings vs. Jenkins County War Eagles

For the second straight game, Treutlen will face off against Jenkins County. The Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the War Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Treutlen turned things around against Jenkins County on Tuesday. They came out on top against the War Eagles by a score of 6-1.

Gavin Wood looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Treutlen is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 7-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gavin Bailey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylan Page, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

The victory got Treutlen back to even at 11-11. As for Jenkins County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-15.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Treutlen has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Jenkins County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
