Softball Recap: Millard West Starts Season with Win Against Elkhorn South

Millard West had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Elkhorn South Storm with a sharp 15-9 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

The team relied heavily on Allie Bergman, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Lily Van Boskirk was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Millard West hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkhorn South struck out seven times.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Millard West will take on rival Fremont at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Elkhorn South is set to challenge their familiar foe Lincoln East at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
