Basketball Recap: Stockdale Takes a Loss

Stockdale played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Liberty Patriots, falling 69-21. The Mustangs have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Stockdale had strong showings from Ashley Wilson, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks, and Abigail Stanley, who scored two points and nine boards. Those nine boards gave Stanley a new career-high.

Liberty had a senior duo take command as Nevaeh Matthews went 7-for-14 on her way to 17 points and five steals and Brooke Tallon put up eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Matthews. Allison Acosta was another key player, putting up nine points.

Stockdale's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season.

Stockdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will square off against Kerman at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
