Baseball Recap: Haslett Extends Winning Streak to Three

Haslett hadn't done well against Okemos recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Vikings blew past the Chiefs 13-4. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Haslett let Ayden Smith and Jacob Rienstra run wild. Smith went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Rienstra went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Haslett is undefeated when Smith posts two or more runs, but 8-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Braedon McGuire, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Haslett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April.

The win (which was Haslett's third in a row) raised their record to 18-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Okemos, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6-1.

Coming up, Haslett will host Fowlerville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Okemos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
