The Midland Christian Mustangs will take on the Grapevine Faith Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Midland Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 31 points last Friday, they were much more limited against All S on Thursday. They were dealt a 45-10 defeat at the hands of the Saints. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Saints are ranked 103rd).

Even if they lost, Midland Christian's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Cadyn Bishop and Isaiah Mathews, who racked up all four sacks between them. Bishop is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season. Midland Christian got some further help from Coy Hayes: he made 15 total tackles (1.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Grapevine Faith Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a blow against Trinity Christian, falling 56-7. The contest marked Grapevine Faith Christian's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Midland Christian will have to contain Jacob Montes as he made an impact in Grapevine Faith Christian's last game. He picked up 181 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 69 yards and one TD. Montes really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards. Cody Bowman was another key player, throwing for 204 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Grapevine Faith Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lucca Lovera and Canon Hunter. Grapevine Faith Christian received some extra help from Walker Little, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Midland Christian's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Everything went Midland Christian's way against Grapevine Faith Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Midland Christian made off with a 49-28 victory.
