Softball Recap: Montgomery County Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Montgomery County hadn't done well against Hawkinsville recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Red Devils, sneaking past 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Bailey Fountain made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Fountain was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Makailah Moore was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Reaves, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Montgomery County's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-10. As for Hawkinsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Montgomery County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Devils: the pair will be back at it again later today.
