Columbus has been on a difficult stretch since their win on April 29. They came up short against the Waverly-Shell Rock Go-Hawks on Thursday, falling 5-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Columbus of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-15-2. As for Waverly-Shell Rock, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10-3 record this season.
