Soccer Game Preview: Leyden vs. Berwyn/Cicero Morton

Leyden is 2-8 against Berwyn/Cicero Morton since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Leyden is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.

Leyden had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the seven-goal drubbing they dealt Hinsdale South on Saturday. The Eagles' defense stepped up to hand the Hornets a 7-0 shutout. The match marked Leyden's most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Berwyn/Cicero Morton's game on Saturday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Saint Viator. Given Berwyn/Cicero Morton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked third, while Saint Viator are ranked 53rd) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leyden's win bumped their record up to 11-2-1. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, their victory bumped their record up to 13-2-2.

Leyden came out on top in a nail-biter against Berwyn/Cicero Morton in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
