Softball Recap: South Effingham Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

South Effingham got themselves on the board against Effingham County on Wednesday, but Effingham County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Cheniyah Jackson's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.

On the hitting side, Alyssa Martin was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Danni Lynn, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

South Effingham lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

South Effingham pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Effingham County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Effingham will square off against Brunswick at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Effingham County, they will challenge Statesboro at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
