Softball Recap: Portal Extends Winning Streak to Four

Portal entered their tilt with Screven County on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over the Gamecocks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted against the Gamecocks since September 17, 2021.

Portal's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Screven County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Portal will host Jenkins County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Screven County, they will challenge Emanuel County Institute at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Gamecocks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
