Recap: Corning vs. West Valley
The Corning Cardinals extended their postseason success on Thursday against the West Valley Eagles. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eagles and snuck past 2-1. The victory was nothing new for Corning as they're now sitting on three straight.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Jackie Hernandez and
Joanna Gallardo, who scored both of Corning's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 39 so far this season.
Corning has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8-1 record this season. As for West Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9-1.
Corning will head out on the road to challenge University Prep at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University Prep will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something Corning surely won't give up without a fight. West Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
