Soccer Game Preview: Serrano vs. Corona del Mar

The Serrano Diamondbacks will take on the Corona del Mar Sea Kings in a holiday battle at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Serrano has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Corona del Mar will arrive with three straight victories.

Serrano fell victim to Yucaipa and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 4-0 to the Thunderbirds. While losing is never fun, Serrano can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 589th, while Yucaipa are ranked 171st).

Meanwhile, Corona del Mar kept a clean sheet against Kennedy on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over the Fighting Irish. Considering Corona del Mar have won five matches by more than three goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Corona del Mar's win bumped their record up to 5-2-2. As for Serrano, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
