Baseball Recap: Westview Comes Up Short

After flying high against Beaverton on Wednesday, Westview came back down to earth. The Wildcats fell 11-6 to the Beavers on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Westview got a good showing from Mathias O'Brien, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Caden Adams made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Westview is 2-1 when Adams posts two or more runs, but 9-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Taisei Sasaki, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Westview's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Beaverton, their record now sits at 18-6.

Coming up, Westview will square off against Southridge at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Skyhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.13 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Beaverton, they will face off against Sunset at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Apollos' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Beavers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
