Basketball Recap: Payton Basehore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cumberland Valley over Carlisle

Cumberland Valley suffered their closest loss since December 2, 2023 on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Carlisle Thundering Herd by a score of 34-32. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 37-33 back in December of 2024.

Cumberland Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Payton Basehore, who went 5 for 9 en route to 10 points. Basehore is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Sienna Manns was another key player, putting up 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Cumberland Valley and nudges their season record down to 11-9. As for Carlisle, they moved to 4-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Cumberland Valley has already played their next matchup, a 54-48 loss against State College on the 30th. Carlisle has also already played their next contest (against Harrisburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
