Soccer Game Preview: Tamalpais vs. Branson

The Tamalpais Red Tailed Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Branson Bulls at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tamalpais is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Sonoma Academy on Friday. They fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Tailed Hawks came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Coyotes are ranked 252nd).

Meanwhile, Branson kept a clean sheet against San Marin on Thursday. They blew past the Mustangs 6-0. Considering the Bulls have won nine games by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting San Marin from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Giselle Hernandez led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

The victory made it two in a row for Branson and bumps their season record up to 12-1-1. As for Tamalpais, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3-5.

Tamalpais came out on top in a nail-biter against Branson in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tamalpais since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
