Basketball Game Preview: Bethel Jaguars vs. Mt. Diablo Red Devils

The Bethel Jaguars and the Mt. Diablo Red Devils will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bethel took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tamalpais, sneaking past 44-41.

Meanwhile, Mt. Diablo posted their biggest victory since February 13, 2024 on Friday. They blew past Hayward 64-17. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while the Farmers are ranked 882nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bethel's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-5. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.4 points per game. As for Mt. Diablo, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
