Football Recap: Mounds View Takes a Loss

Mounds View and Lakeville South squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mounds View had to settle for second. They were dealt a 37-0 defeat at the hands of the Cougars. Having soared to a lofty 31 points in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Beckham Wheeler threw for 128 yards on 14 of 25 attempts. Tanner Jude was his top target, picking up 75 receiving yards.

Mounds View moved to 5-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Lakeville South, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Mounds View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lakeville South, they will square off against Maple Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 13.2, the Crimson 15) so any points scored will be well earned.
