Recap: Helix Highlanders vs. Monte Vista Monarchs
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Helix Highlanders ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-37 victory over Monte Vista. The high-flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Helix considering their 24-point performance the contest before.
Helix was led to victory by Mykhaila Clark and Jordan Lindsey. Clark scored 13 points along with five steals, while Lindsey scored six points along with ten assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Marquez, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Something new happened on Tuesday as Samara Patterson saw her first action of the season, playing five minutes against Monte Vista. Patterson made the most of the opportunity, scoring five points. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Helix's victory bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Monte Vista, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-16.
Helix will square off against Mount Miguel at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Helix is facing Mount Miguel at the right time seeing as Mount Miguel is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Monte Vista, they will be playing at home against El Capitan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. El Capitan presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Monte Vista in California (El Capitan is ranked 353rd, while Monte Vista is ranked 792nd).
