The Horizon Christian Academy Warriors will face off against the Scholars Guild Academy Spartans at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Horizon Christian Academy earned a 10-7 win over Covenant Christian Academy.
Caden Lamb was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lemoine, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Lamb wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Horizon Christian Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Scholars Guild Academy won against Skipstone Academy on Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Scholars Guild Academy blew past Young Americans Christian 15-1. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 12 runs or more this season.
Jacob Chupp made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Scholars Guild Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-6 otherwise. Chupp was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Will Pittman and Ty Newton did most of the damage at the plate: Pittman scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2, while Newton scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-4. Pittman has become a key player for Scholars Guild Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Strange, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
The victory got Scholars Guild Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Horizon Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Horizon Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Scholars Guild Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Horizon Christian Academy took their win against Scholars Guild Academy in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 9-3. Does Horizon Christian Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Scholars Guild Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
