Crean Lutheran entered their tilt with Esperanza on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They enjoyed a cozy 62-43 victory over the Esperanza Aztecs. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Aztecs are ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Crean Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sydnee Norwood, who posted 26 points. That's the most points Norwood has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Micaela Hanning, who scored 16 points.

When it comes to explaining why Esperanza lost, don't look at Alexa Muller. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 13 on her way to 19 points and three steals. Muller has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Muller, who put up 11 points and five boards.

Crean Lutheran's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Esperanza, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.

Crean Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-34 defeat against Villa Park on the 11th. As for Esperanza, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 41-31 loss against Portola on the 11th.
