Baseball Recap: Princeton Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forest Park, Princeton was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wood Memorial Trojans a 5-0 shutout. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Jaron Clutter's shutout, as he gave up just seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Conor Marsh, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April. Jacoby Cleveland was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Princeton's victory bumped their record up to 7-18. As for Wood Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Princeton will venture away from home to take on Evansville Bosse at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wood Memorial, they will head out to challenge Shoals at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
