Baseball Game Preview: Bryan County Redskins vs. Islands Sharks

The Bryan County Redskins will venture away from home to challenge the Islands Sharks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bryan County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

On Saturday, Bryan County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over Zion Christian Academy. That's two games straight that the Redskins have won by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, Islands never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Zion Christian Academy with a sharp 9-0 win.

Peyton Williams looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Islands' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 6-16 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Dylan Stewart was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Islands: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-17 otherwise. Mason McLaughlin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Islands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bryan County's record now sits at 15-13. As for Islands, their record is now 9-17.

Bryan County beat Islands 10-6 in their previous matchup back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
