Soccer Game Preview: Peninsula vs. South

The Peninsula Panthers will take on the South Spartans at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Friday, Peninsula came up short against Wiseburn- Da Vinci and fell 3-1. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but South ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand El Segundo a 1-0 shutout. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Eagles are ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South pushed their record up to 9-2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four matchups. As for Peninsula, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-2.
