Baseball Game Preview: Byron Eagles vs. Genesee Wolves

The Byron Eagles will head out to face off against the Genesee Wolves at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Byron's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Bentley with a sharp 15-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Liam McKay was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Byron is undefeated when McKay posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-12 otherwise. Brayden Vincent also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Byron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .742. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Genesee can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over More Academy. Considering the Wolves' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Genesee's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Byron, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.

Byron got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2017 against Genesee by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
