Softball Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Pike County

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pike County walked away with it. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Hardaway Hawks an 18-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won 18 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The win (which was Pike County's ninth in a row) raised their record to 22-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hardaway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-12.

Looking ahead, Pike County will face off against Sonoraville at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pirates 3.1, the Phoenix 1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Hardaway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
