ELK RIVER, Minn. - After three lead changes,
Andover (Minn.) took the lead for good when
Connor Wilkie thew a touchdown to
Justin Freyholtz with 2:00 remaining in the second quarter and held on to defeat
Elk River (Minn.) 35-20 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a Wilkie touchdown pass to Freyholtz in the second quarter, the Huskies led 21-14 at the half.
Andover grew its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. AHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Wilkie touchdown pass to
Derek McLaughlin.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Elks. The win brought Andover's winning streak to four games.
Elk River (0-4) will play a Northwest Suburban game against Totino-Grace next week, while Andover (4-0) will take on Osseo also in a Northwest Suburban game.
