Baseball Recap: Angola Triumphs

Angola saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Plymouth Pilgrims. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Ryan Stuckey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jackson Steury was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Landon Leach, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Angola's win bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Plymouth, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Angola will take on Eastern at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Plymouth, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Triton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pilgrims' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
