Soccer Game Preview: Portal vs. Claxton

Portal is 1-7 against Claxton since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Portal duke it out with the Claxton at 7:00 p.m.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Portal and Metter meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. Portal took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Metter. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Claxton). Their defense stepped up to hand Bryan County a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Tigers considering their one-goal performance the game before.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Portal, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Portal came up short against Claxton in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, falling 5-3. Can Portal avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
