Football Recap: St. Thomas Catholic Piles Up the Points Against St. Pius X

After only six points in their last contest, St. Thomas Catholic made sure to put some points up on the board against St. Pius X on Friday. The Eagles simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 35-6. That 29 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Myles Stewart and Javaughn Waldron. Stewart gained 124 total yards and two touchdowns while Waldron rushed for 86 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. The dominant performance also gave Stewart a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

St. Thomas Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 218 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

St. Thomas Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hudson Loyd and Pryce Cravens.

St. Thomas Catholic pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.2 points on average over those games. As for St. Pius X, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.
