Recap: Fallbrook Warriors vs. Oceanside Pirates
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Fallbrook Warriors had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 42-35 victory over the Pirates. The victory was familiar territory for Fallbrook who now have three in a row.
Fallbrook found their leader in underclassman Grace Nordeen, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. Nordeen is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Janice Garcia, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Oceanside saw an underclassman step up: Aubrey Madden scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Madden hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Kaye, who scored ten points.
Oceanside struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Fallbrook has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-8 record this season. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 21-10.
Fallbrook will head out on the road to square off against Grossmont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grossmont is coming into the contest with seven straight victories at home, so Fallbrook will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Oceanside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
