Basketball Recap: Mapletown Takes a Loss

Mapletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Serra Catholic Eagles and fell 59-19. While losing is never fun, the Maples can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while the Eagles are ranked 263rd).

Serra Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Dumbroski, who went 10 for 17 en route to 25 points and four steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Dumbroski has scored at least a third of Serra Catholic's points. Abby Genes was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Mapletown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Serra Catholic, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.

Mapletown will host Geibel Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Serra Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Monessen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
