Basketball Recap: Mission Viejo Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mission Viejo can now relate to. They fell to the Tesoro Titans 40-35. The Diablos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Titans earlier this season, when they won 49-36.

Mission Viejo's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kimora Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Williams has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sofia Gozzo, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Even though they lost, Mission Viejo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Mission Viejo dropped their record down to 10-19 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Tesoro, their win bumped their record up to 18-11.

As of now, neither Mission Viejo nor Tesoro have any future games scheduled.
