Baseball Recap: Holbrook Comes Up Short

Holbrook couldn't beat Atlantis on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Bulldogs fell 12-8 to Atlantis. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Atlantis this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-14 on May 4th.

John Ventosi was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ventosi was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season.

In other batting news, Ty Hesselschwerdt was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Holbrook: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Om Patel, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Holbrook has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Atlantis, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.

Holbrook wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-0 loss against Bristol County Agricultural on the 23rd. Atlantis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
