Basketball Game Preview: Palm Springs Indians vs. Brawley Wildcats

The Palm Springs Indians and the Brawley Wildcats will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Palm Springs' defense has only allowed 27 points per game this season, so Brawley's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Brawley is hoping to do what Desert Hot Springs couldn't on Friday: put an end to Palm Springs' winning streak, which now stands at three games. Palm Springs snuck past Desert Hot Springs with a 42-36 win. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Palm Springs relied on the efforts of Shayla Bates, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Eiresslee Wells, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bates has scored at least a third of Palm Springs' points. Aja Walker was another key player, putting up three points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Brawley came up short against Kearny on Saturday and fell 57-44. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Palm Springs' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points per game. As for Brawley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
