Basketball Recap: Bishop Canevin Piles Up the Points Against Monessen

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Geibel Catholic, Bishop Canevin was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 65-14 victory over the Monessen Greyhounds. The game marked the Crusaders' most dominant win of the season.

Bishop Canevin found their leader in sophomore Kya Cooley, who posted 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cooley has scored all season. Belle Sysak was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Bishop Canevin's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Monessen, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Canevin will venture away from home to face off against Clairton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Iyanna Wade and Sysak. As for Monessen, they will head out on the road to take on West Greene at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Monessen is facing West Greene at the right time seeing as West Greene is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
