Football Recap: Walnut Grove's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Walnut Grove can now relate to. The contest between them and the Argyle Eagles didn't end well, with the Walnut Grove Wildcats falling 52-35. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (34), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Walnut Grove's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cameron Newton, who gained 128 total yards and three touchdowns, and Hayes Hackney, who threw for 329 yards and one touchdown. The dominant performance also gave Hackney a new career-high in rushing yards (57). A healthy portion of Hackney's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to Hayden Cooley.

Maguire Gasperson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Argyle, throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 76 yards and one touchdown. Watson Bell also helped out as he racked up 109 rushing yards.

Walnut Grove's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2. As for Argyle, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Walnut Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Argyle, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 42-17 win against Lovejoy on the 6th.
