Volleyball Game Preview: Cromwell Panthers vs. Old Lyme Wildcats

Cromwell hasn't had much luck against Old Lyme recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will challenge the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Friday, Cromwell didn't have quite enough to beat Morgan and fell 3-2. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Huskies 25-18 in the first set.

Cromwell actually scored more points across those five sets (101-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-16, 25-23, 17-25, 15-12.

Meanwhile, Old Lyme came up short against East Hampton on Friday and fell 3-1.

While Old Lyme ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-17, 18-25, 25-21.

Cromwell's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Old Lyme, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Cromwell took their win against Old Lyme when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
