Football Recap: Laurel Locomotives vs. East Helena Vigilantes
Laurel had won seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 5-1 to make it eight. They managed a 25-19 win over the East Helena Vigilantes. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Locomotives also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Curtis Fox was his usual excellent self, rushing for 242 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October of 2024.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Laurel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Helena only rushed for 95.
As for East Helena, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2. Despite 59 more yards than Laurel, the Vigilantes couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Several Vigilantes players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Deondray Ellis, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Laurel and East Helena should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Montana Rankings. The Locomotives will face off against Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (2 vs. 67). Meanwhile, East Helena (ranked seventh) will meet Browning (ranked 60th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
