Soccer Game Preview: Columbia vs. Drew Charter

The Columbia Eagles will head out on the road to take on Drew Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Columbia took a nine-goal defeat the last time they faced off against South Atlanta, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Columbia's defense stepped up to hand South Atlanta a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Drew Charter came tearing into Thursday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wolverines 10-0. Considering Drew Charter has won seven games by more than four goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Miller Grove from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. DeWon Davenport led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Drew Charter's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 45 goals over those five matchups. As for Columbia, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Columbia might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Drew Charter in their previous meeting back in February. Can Columbia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
