Football Game Preview: Iola Mustangs vs. Girard Trojans

Iola is 1-9 against Girard since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will face off against the Trojans. Iola will be strutting in after a victory while Girard will be coming in after a loss.

Iola is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 26-13 win over Anderson County on Friday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Girard played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of Frontenac. Having soared to a lofty 32 points in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.

Girard's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Iola, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Iola came up short against Girard when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 28-23. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
