Basketball Recap: Mount Miguel Comes Up Short

Mount Miguel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were dealt a 67-21 loss at the hands of the Monte Vista Monarchs. The Matadors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Monarchs earlier this season, when they won 46-29.

Monte Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Knikole Steward, who posted 23 points. The dominant performance gave Steward a new career-high in points. Taylor Mayer was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Mount Miguel's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Monte Vista, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-19.

Mount Miguel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-20 loss against Valhalla on the 4th. As for Monte Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 77-13 defeat against West Hills on the 4th.
