ThunderRidge and Rock Canyon are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but likely not for long. The Grizzlies will take on the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, ThunderRidge turned things around against Douglas County on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Huskies with a sharp 16-6 victory. With that win, the Grizzlies brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
ThunderRidge let Leah Barbee and Aubrey Conant run wild. Barbee got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Conant went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Conant has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Reagan Lodden, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
ThunderRidge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Douglas County only posted a batting average of .263.
Meanwhile, Rock Canyon made easy work of Heritage on Friday and carried off a 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Rock Canyon got a big performance out of Lucy Longmire, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Ueland, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
ThunderRidge's record now sits at 6-12. As for Rock Canyon, their record is now 13-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. ThunderRidge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rock Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
ThunderRidge skirted past Rock Canyon 7-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
