Football Recap: North Marion Takes a Loss

North Marion lost against South Sumter back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Colts fell 24-19 to the Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Raiders are ranked 105th).

South Sumter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Timothy Gaynor, who rushed for 95 yards and one score.

North Marion has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.5 points over those games. As for South Sumter, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Coming up, North Marion will face off against Vanguard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 5.6 points per game this season, so the Colts' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Sumter, after each having a week off, they and Eastside will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
