Baseball Recap: Nelson County Extends Winning Streak to Three

Nelson County won against Marion County on Friday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cardinals beat the Bethlehem Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-6. The win was familiar territory for the Cardinals, who have now won three contests in a row.

Noah Sekulski made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Deken Minter and Trenton Gagel did most of the damage at the plate: Minter got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Gagel went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits Gagel has posted since back in April. Jacob Bryant also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Nelson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.

Nelson County's victory bumped their record up to 19-14. As for Bethlehem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 21-15.

Nelson County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
