Preview: Surry Central Golden Eagles vs. North Wilkes Vikings
Surry Central is 9-1 against North Wilkes since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Surry Central Golden Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the North Wilkes Vikings at 8:30 p.m. Surry Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 445 points over their last six matches.
Surry Central put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Forbush 79-42 on the road. With Surry Central ahead 57-15 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Mason Jewell was nothing short of spectacular: he scored 22 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jax Whitaker, who scored 13 points.
Even though North Wilkes has not done well against Wilkes Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. North Wilkes walked away with a 61-54 victory over Wilkes Central. The victory made it back-to-back wins for North Wilkes.
Surry Central is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for North Wilkes, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Surry Central beat North Wilkes 58-46 when the teams last played last Thursday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Surry Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
